Happy hour version of the Dalgona coffee! Just because… Or didn’t you know coffee and liquer are a perfect match.
I along with millions of other people around the world caught the Dalgona bug. This made me drink instant coffee again. Until the Dalgona buzz I had stopped drinking instant coffee. I bought fantastic coffee beans and ground coffee from Kim’s Coffee in Jos, Plateau State. And that was the best way to transition from being an instant coffee drinker to “proper” coffee drinker. And I’ve been hooked. I was in Ethiopia the birthplace of Coffee and I sampled a couple of coffee. I came back home with a few bags of exquisite coffee. I tried Coffee in Kenya and returned with Kenyan coffee too.
I’ve had Dalgona now so many times because it is fun to make. Of course I have to make the happy hour version. Lol
Dalgona is Coffee is milk topped with whipped coffee.
Basic Dalgona ingredients
- 1 tbsp Instant Coffee
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tbsp Hot water
- Ice cubes (optional)
- 1/2 cup Milk (you can use dairy or non dairy milk)
To make Whipped Coffee you need, Instant Coffee, Sugar, Hot water, in equal proportions. Mix together and whisk by hand or with a mixer. Whisk till stiff peaks. (If making basic Dalgona at the point pour you milk over ice and top it with whisked coffee)
Tres Leche Mix
For the purpose of this recipe I used 3 milks and Cream liqueur. All in equal proportions
- Coconut milk
- Full Cream Milk
- Heavy Cream
- Irish Cream (Can be switched with Whiskey)
Mix all the together, pour over ice cubes, top with whipped coffee. Enjoy
